About this artwork

An oil painting depicting a bustling historic coastal harbor scene. On the left, an old stone fortress gate and adjacent classical buildings stand by the water, with several figures walking along the shore and sitting on stone steps. In the foreground and middle distance, various sailing vessels with prominent masts and reddish-orange sails rest on the calm water, while distant hilly landscapes and other ships fill the horizon under a cloudy sky. The color palette consists of earthy browns, grays, soft blues, and warm highlights on the buildings and sails.
