About this artwork

A classical still life oil painting composition featuring an overflowing wicker basket filled with various fruits including apples, pears, plums, and hanging red currants. A bowl of ripe red strawberries sits on the left next to lemons and a sliced pomegranate. In the foreground, clusters of white and purple grapes spill forward alongside open figs and a melon resting on a stone surface. A small brown monkey perches on the right near a blue and white patterned ceramic dish, nibbling on a treat. The dark background enhances the rich, warm tones and textures of the arrangement.
