About this artwork

This elaborate still life oil painting features a bountiful arrangement of game and fresh produce arranged on a dark wooden table. A bright red cooked lobster sits prominently on a dark plate to the left, while various game birds, including a peacock with its iridescent tail feathers spread and several smaller fowl, are draped across the foreground. In the center, a woven basket overflows with apples, grapes, and leafy green foliage. The dimly lit interior background is accented by a small window in the upper left corner, creating dramatic highlights and deep shadows across the composition.
